Many of the Nintendo fan sites and blogs I frequent have recently posted pics of the Wii that label the dimensions as 13cm x 20cm x 6cm. Decent estimate, but not close.
If you’re inserting a 12cm disc, you’d only have .5cm left on either side in terms of the system’s height, and that’s clearly not right. If you look at enough of the photos with half-inserted discs as reference, you can figure out the system (without stand) height to be about 15.5cm. Then, based on the patent drawings (which are indeed to scale), you can figure out the ratio of the sides, and then theirs lengths.
This is how I came up with the measurements for my model. The recent 13 x 20 x 6 is wrong. That “comparison chart” with the 360, PS3, Wii, et al. (the one labeling Wii as 14cm tall) is also wrong. I’m not saying I know mine’s exactly right, but I’m saying I’m absolutely positive it’s more accurate than any of those other reported measurements.
Wii: 155mm x 212mm x 44mm
Of course, that’s without the stand. As for the stand, my measurements are a little less accurate as there are no patent drawings for it, but I’m putting it at 41mm x 222mm x 54mm.
